Originally a brainchild of the 1990s WOLF COUNSEL finally came into existence in 2014 when two veteran musicians merged their enthusiasm for monumental low-tuned music and a great appreciation of heavy riffs into a new band. Primarily rooted in the style of late 70s and 80s prototype DOOM Metal their sound quickly developed a very unique and heavy signature drawing influences from everything that's HEAVY and SLOW.
In January 2015 the debut album "Vol. I - Wolf Counsel" was released digitally, on vinyl LP and CD by Counsel Records and Dead Center Productions.
The second album "IRONCLAD" was written and preproduced throughout 2015 - finally recorded at Hell's Kitchen- and Little Creek Studio in April 2016. Produced, mixed and mastered by V.O. Pulver for a worldwide release in September 2016 via Czar Of Crickets Productions/Plastic Head Distribution.
The third album "AGE OF MADNESS / REIGN OF CHAOS" was recorded and produced in May 2017 again at Little Creek Studio near Basel (CH) with fellow producer V.O. Pulver for another worldwide release via Czar Of Crickets/Plastic Head in November 2017. The newest effort features 7 songs that cover the whole diverse scope of classic Doom Metal with a lot of suprises that show the unique style of this band.
Wolf Counsel's music has been called "authentic and elegantly classic" by various print and online magazines with comparisons to a "nonstop evoking riffage summoning forth an experimental urge to slaughter a herd of sheep with razor sharp groove and bludgeoning vocal girth" amplified by descriptions like "the craft that has gone into these songs is as immense as the riffs" and "it's whole vibe is doomed than thou". Summarised some critics wrote that "Ironclad is the sound of Wolf Counsel reaching their potential very early in their career and it is clear from this album and its songs that they can only go even further from here".
WOLF COUNSEL played liveshows with bands like Orange Goblin (UK), Procession (SE/CI), Epitaph (IT), The Order Of Israfel (SE), Castle SF (US), Year Of The Goat (SE), Obelyskkh (DE), Magnacult (NL) and DevilDriver (US) in several European countries.
Even before WOLF COUNSEL the bandmembers always had a deep interest in the arts of uncompromising spirituality, mysticism and philosophy.
These views and ways are strongly reflected in their lyrical and visual expression.
